The UW Libraries recently purchased RefWorks, an online personal citation database and bibliography creator that allows you to import, store, and share your research citations and automatically formats your bibliographies into whatever style you need (APA, MLA, Chicago, and many more).

NBCI/NLM (PubMed)
- Conduct your search.
- Select the records you want to export by clicking the checkbox to the left of each citation.
- Find the the Display drop-down menu at the top of the results list and change it from Summary to MEDLINE.
- In the Send To drop-down menu, select Text. The browser will display your list of references in MEDLINE format.
- Use your browser's Save As function to save a copy of the resulting webpage to your computer in the plain text (.txt) file format.
In RefWorks:
- Log in to RefWorks if you have not already done so.
- In the toolbar at the top of the page, click on the References menu and select Import.
- On the Import page, select NLM PubMed from the Import Filter/Data Source drop-down menu.
- Use the Database drop-down menu to select PubMed.
- Select the option to Import Data from the following Text File.
- Click the Browse button to select the file you saved to your computer in the previous steps.
- Click the Import button.
- Your records will appear in the Last Imported Folder.
