Meetings:
It was agreed to meet three times a year in February, May, and October alternating days and times to enable as many different members to attend as possible. We also would like to become more familiar with each other’s libraries and request that different members host the meetings each time.
Evergreen Librarians Sarah Pedersen and Ernestine Kimbro graciously invited us for our February meeting. Please mark your calendars for Thursday, February 23, 2006 from 1-4pm for our next meeting at the Evergreen College library.
Additional Discussions:
1) A list of participating institutions was requested. Meeting attendees have been from University of Washington, City University, Evergreen State College, Tacoma Community College, Green River Community College, and Pierce County Libraries. Librarians from the following institutions are on the membership list but as yet have been unable to attend: University of Puget Sound, Tacoma Public Library, Puyallup Public Library, and Washington State Historical Society. We will also be contacting librarians at the State Law Library and St. Joseph’s and inviting them to join the South Sound Librarians.
2) We would like to implement a Gifts Referral network and will hopefully have two guest speakers at our February meeting to suggest ideas and options to do this.
3) As a way to coordinate our information literacy efforts and establish shared core competencies, we are looking for volunteers for a task force to begin work in Dec. 2005. We are currently compiling initiatives, agreements, and mission statements for information literacy programs. If you would like to participate in the task force and/or submit your information literacy statements: please contact Mary Mara at City University – mmara@cityu.edu or 253 896-3240 by December 1, 2005.
4) We would like to incorporate in our website not only the list of participating institutions but also a list of their services with explanations and missions of the libraries. Please submit your institutions information to Carole Svensson at svensson@u.washington.edu or give her a call at 253 692-4447.
5) Additional review of the articulation agreement will be ongoing until the majority of the members have reviewed it and submitted comments and/or suggestions. Thank you in advance for your input.
Respectfully submitted,
Anna Salyer (UWT)
