subject [Vsg] Bibliography on Confucianism in Vietnam

Dear List,
Below please find the Institute of Han-Nom Studies' announcement of the
bibliography on Confucianism in Vietnam.
NGUYEN Nam

With the supports of the Harvard-Yenching Institute, the Institute of
Han-Nom Studies (IHNS) is compiling a bibliography on Confucianism in
Vietnam, which includes:

(1) Confucian materials written by Vietnamese literati in Han (classical
Chinese) or Nom script, currently preserved at the IHNS and other libraries
in Vietnam and abroad.
(2) Books and essays on the introduction and development of Confucianism
in Vietnam, written in Vietnamese, Chinese, English and French by Vietnamese
and non-Vietnamese scholars, published in Vietnam and overseas.

The bibliography will be classified by subjects and keywords with various
indexes, allowing readers easy, effective, and productive research. The
IHNS hopes that the bibliography will promote the openness of the IHNS to
Vietnamese and international scholarly communities, step by step providing
them with easy access to the heritage of Han-Nom materials. With the
publication of the bibliography of Confucianism in Vietnam, scholars both
from Vietnam and abroad will significantly save their time in conducting
research on Confucianism and its influence and development in East Asia in
general, and in Vietnam in particular. The IHNS expects that the first
edition of the bibliography will be complete by the end of 2007.

As the compilation is processing, the IHNS would like to collect as many as
possible academic works by scholars within and outside Vietnam. Thus, if
you (or your colleagues) have published books or essays on the topic, please
send their bibliographic information via email to Ms. CHU Tuyet-Lan
(manh@netnam.org.vn) by June 1, 2007. Please also feel free to pass this
announcement to those who may be concerned.
Thank you very much for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
CHU Tuyet-Lan
Director of the Han-Nom Library
