Dear friends,
In response to Colonel Haponski's (Dr. Col., Col. Dr....what is the protocol?) questions, please find below a short and incomplete bibliography of articles and books concerning rubber in Indochina and the development of the road system. There are also novels concerning both as well, and I am happy to communicate those as desired. I know that there is a colonial-era celebratory piece concerning Route 13, too, but I can't recall the title.
As I recall, the National Archives in Paris retain the archives of both the Michelin and the Suzanne plantations...please see the guide to the National Archives for them. I have also pasted below those references to archives that I have, and it would be worth a visit to the Bibliotheque Nationale's BN-Opale web site/search engine. I am happy to communicate a chart with year-by-year expansion of the various road systems that I have compiled. Of course, Aix-en-Provence has a lot of stuff for sure...the archives of the Travaux publics de l'Indochine can be particularly rich (e.g. folded transversal plans, some scores of meters in length, detailed road beds at about 1/1000 scale).
