Homecoming festivities for 1952 were kicked off by the village band contest rally held October 13. Nine groups entered bands in this competition which drew a crowd of more than 2,500 students. Zeta Psi's village band was announced to be the winner of the contest at the Homecoming rally held October 17. Short speeches were given by prominent alumni. Queen Lee Simonson was introduced, and the football team was presented by Coach Howie O'Dell. A crowd of 1,200 couples attended the Homecoming dance held October 18 at the Civic auditorium. Hunting scenes and fir trees decorated the floor as students danced to the music of Johnny Rietz's orchestra |
