Many off-hour activities are available to Harborview students. Classes take turns publishing the "Chronic Complainer,"a bi-monthly paper featuring news of hospital and residence happenings. The students present an annual spring Variety show utilizing student talent. The student chorus brightens the Christmas holidays for patients by caroling in the hospital corridors. Religious fellowship and study is offered by the Harborview Christian fellowship which meets each week. Spontaneous gatherings and surprise showers and birthday parties are an almost nightly occurance. To relieve the strain of Wednesday afternoon classes, Miss Hoffine, the residence director, serves tea in the large, attractive lounge. The governing body of Harborview hall, under ASUW jurisdiction, is the Student Council composed of officers elected every six months and representatives from each class. The meetings of the council are open to any student who wishes to attend. At the end of her four-year program the student nurse is granted the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and is prepared to accept first level positions in both Institutional and Public Health nursing. She receives the pin of her school and the "W" on her nurse's cap which identifies her as a professional nurse. |
