Washington and Oregon State teed off to inaugurate the 1952 Northern Division links schedule. With five returning lettermen plus two very promising newcomers, Coach Bill Jefferson's Huskies were favored to win over OSC. They apparently heeded the prediction for they took the match 22-5.

Don Russell won the Huskies qualifying tournament with freshman Kent McLachlan showing good early season form by placing third.

The University of Washington linksmen played Idaho, winning 18-9, and then traveled to Washington State's course where they again won, 19-8.

Undeterred by a 211/2 to 51/2 defeat at the hands of Oregon, the U. of W. Huskies golf team shot for their second straight Northern Division medal play championship in Moscow. They were again successful and took the Northern Division medal play with a low score of 588. Don Russell tied with Dale Faylor of Idaho for individual honors with a score of 143 (three over par) for the 36-hole course. Russell had rounds of 71-72, Faylor had 74-69. Others were: Jim Bourne, Wash., 72-73 for 145; Ron Clark, Oregon, 72-73 for 145; John Drips, Idaho,76-69 for 145.
