Professional society of architects organized on February 24, 1891 as
the Washington Chapter. In 1961 the name was changed to the Seattle

One carton documents an urban design project sponsored by the A.I.A. and other
Seattle groups. The project, Seattle R/UDAT, (tentative title: A.I.A. Seattle
Chapter, Regional Urban Design Assistance Team) brought in an outside design
team to study the issue of downtown Seattle as a residential community. It
worked with the Seattle Chapter's Steering Committee for this project and with
other concerned organizations and produced a report, "Living Downtown",
