Richard Stanley Hobbs is an historian and archivist in Seattle. Hobbs received a Ph. D. from the University of Washington in 1989. He is the author of three books, one of which resulted from his doctoral research and dissertation.
Arranged as received.
The collection consists of oral history interview recordings and partial transcripts of interviews, mostly conducted by Richard Hobbs with Revels Cayton. Interviews were used for Hobbs' doctoral dissertation, and later book, The Cayton Legacy: an African American family (Pullman: WSU Press, 2002). Donnie Hancock conducted a few of the interviews with Mr. Cayton, and Florence Mischel also appears on at least two tapes.
Use of audio tapes requires production of listening copies.
Open to all users.
Access to archival recordings: Due to the fragility of archival tape recordings, potential users may be required to arrange for transfer to digital format before the material can be accessed. Please contact Special Collections for further information.
The creators' literary rights have been transferred to the University of Washington Libraries.
