Edward Alexander received his M.A. degree in 1959 and his Ph.D. in 1963 from the University of Minnesota. He served as an instructor in English at the University of Washington from 1960-1964, was promoted to assistant professor in 1964, associate professor in 1967, full professor in 1969. He has also taught at Tufts University, Hebrew University, Tel-Aviv University, and University of Memphis. He has published numerous books and articles on Victorian literature and a variety of Jewish subects.
