INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOVEMENT OF ADVANCE CREW

Evacuee members of the advance crew will be allowed a maximum of 150 pounds per person on baggage. Baggage should be limited to necessities only. Hand luggage taken into the coach is not included in the 150 pounds baggage limitation.

Saturday afternoon, August 8th, all baggage excepting hand luggage will be read for loading on trucks in each area. All baggage from Area "D" will be taken by the evacuee to the Area "D" Headquarters location and will be loaded on trucks at that place. Baggage from Areas "B" and "C" will be picked up by Operations and taken to Area "D" Headquarters loading point. Baggage in Area "A" will be loaded on trucks at Pitcher's Field.

All baggage (not hand luggage) shall be tagged, showing the name of the evacuee, the U.S.E.S. [U.S.E.S. is crossed out in the document and "family" is written in] number, and the number of pieces, for example 1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc. Hand luggage will not be tagged nor loaded with the baggage.

If an evacuee has baggage in excess of the limit allowed, it should be boxed or crated, or securely tied in bundles and left in care of a responsible person in the section. These articles should also be tagged, showing the name U.S.E.S. number and number of pieces. Such items will be shipped at a later date. For your information the War Relocation Authority, within a reasonable time after arrival of evacuees at Relocation Projects, will arrange to have household and personal effects of evacuees now in storage outside Assembly Centers, shipped to the Relocation Project.

All Government property charged against the evacuee which includes beds, mattresses, ticks, and blankets will be checked on Saturday afternoon, August 8th by area. Beds, mattresses, ticks, and blankets shall be left in apartments after vacation on Sunday morning and will be picked up and removed to the warehouse after the movement has been completed. All property not accounted for shall be charged against the evacuee's account.

Breakfast for the advance crew will be served in Area "D" at 6:00 a.m., Sunday morning. Immediately following breakfast, persons comprising the advance crew will report to the open area near the Supply Warehouse in Area "D" with their hand luggage and be prepared to be checked into busses for entrainment.

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT BAGGAGES SHOULD BE HELD TO A MINIMUM AS INFORMATION RECEIVED INDICATES THAT ONLY ONE BAGGAGE CAR WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THIS ENTRAINMENT.
