Costume Gallery Website The Costume Gallery researches for a fee historic costumes for private individuals, authors, designers, theatre, film and television. The Costume Gallery is located in Richmond, Virginia, USA, fondly called "Costume Heaven". Location and accessability are two key factors in research. The Costume Gallery has access to several universities (costume collections & libraries), state libraries, national archives & museum collections.
Costume Ring Site includes clothing of theatre, film; or mask costume; national, folk or traditional costume, and historical costume. This is a resource for people looking for costume information, instructions etc. It is NOT meant as a directory for people looking for costumes to buy or rent. The Garb'n' Frock Ring Commercial costume, costuming, sewing etc. sites dealing in: custom costumers, fabric shops, suppliers of re-enactment articles etc. The conditions are that there must be at least one page about period or ethnic costume or a directly related subject. Fashion Plate Collection This collection includes 417 fashion plates from 1806-1914 from some of the leading fashion journals of the times: La Belle assemblee, Le Bon ton, Le Follet, courrier des salons, Journal des dames et des modes, Godey's lady's book and magazine and others. The hand-colored illustrations cover many stylistic periods in French and English history. These styles overlapped as the fashions and tastes changed.
