Finding Journal Articles

Wildlife Management

Environmental Science & Policy

Use these databases to find articles about your topic:

  • Legislation on drilling in the Arctic Reserve (What is a national wildlife refuge.  How and why was it formed in Arctic Alaska?  Does it differ from a National Park? What is the legality of drilling there and why would it take legislation to change current policies?)

  • Impacts of drilling on Inupiaq Alaska Natives (Based on nearby Prudhoe Bay and other gas and oil exploration on the Arctic, what social changes have already been catalyzed by this development?  What are different Arctic communities saying about these changes?)

  • Climate Change and the Future of Oil and Gas Development (How will ice melt in the Arctic effect the proposed projects to extract oil?  Will it make it easier or more difficult?)

  • Coalitions formed in favor of drilling (Who are these groups? What are their values and agendas?)

  • Impacts if oil and gas extraction on Caribou in nearby Prudhoe Bay (What are some concerns and projected scenarios for the Caribou herds?)

  • Offshore Oil Spills (How did the Exxon-Valdez spill create a new set of expectations and standards for oil companies operating in Alaska waters?  How is the risk of an oil spill in ANWR calculated, and how do the ice covered Arctic waters provide a different set of challenges in the event of an oil spill).

View this Libraries tutorial for finding out if the article you need is online.
