To find out what we have in the way of books or journals
dealing with French language and literature, search
the
UW
Libraries catalog,
If you know the general subject on which you need material, use
the keyword window and type in a word or two describing that topic.
For example, you might write "french cinema" to see a few books on the
topic.
As you read the description of the books thus called up, you will notice
that we use the subject "Motion-pictures -- France" for that
topic.
Using these exact words in the subject heading window will
produce a more accurate search.
If you want material in French, you may type a french
word or two in the keyword window.
For example "poesie and
Ronsard" will give you a list of books in French
dealing with Ronsard's poetry.
If you know the exact title, or exact author of a book, simply use the title or
author window to retrieve what you need: for instance, type RIVAGE DES SYRTES
or CAMUS, ALBERT.

If you wish to find a specific periodical, click on the
journals icon, on the first screen of the web catalog. Then type the title of the periodical in the
title window of the next screen: for instance, type CAHIERS DU CINEMA.

web catalog, and click on the JOURNALS icon now.
