The official MetroRoma Lines Map that also provides timetables and other helpful info for getting around the city.Be@Rome is a GoogleMaps mashup that features hotels/hostels but if you want to turn off that feature you can still explore the GoogleMap of Rome with links to pictures and info about various sites of interest (and Metro stations!). A Google search will bring up millions of online travel guides that provide neighborhood descriptions, for example Frommer's or Avventure Bellissime. Scroll past all the adds on this page to find links to maps of Popular Rome Districts.

"...a large plaster model of nearly 70 m2 which represents ancient Rome in the times of the emperor Constantine (IVth C. A.D.). Classified in the Inventory of Historical Monuments, it is the work of Norman architect Paul Bigot (1870-1942), winner of the Grand Prix of Rome and professor at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Bequeathed to the Université de Caen and exhibited today in a central gallery at the Maison de la Recherche en Sciences Humaines, this relief plan is the origin of a pluridisciplinary project for a virtual 3D model reconstructed in computer-generated images."1748 Nolli map of Rome
