Use OhioLink to access chapters of recent books, use the "Words" search option.

Indexes
Use indexes to find articles (and sometimes books, dissertations, etc.) on a topic. Most indexes are arranged by subject or include a subject index. There are indexes covering all sorts of subjects, use those which best fit your research topic. For a complete list of electronic indexes see Databases & Catalogs on the Information Gateway.
Once you identify articles you need make sure you have the complete citation (author, title, journal name, volume, pages and year), then look in the UW Libraries Catalog for the journal name (do a title search for the journal name to see if the UW subscribes) to see if and where the journal is kept (library location and call number).
Articles from journals which the UW does not own can be requested through the Interlibrary Borrowing Service.

Multidisciplinary database indexing journal articles in the arts and humanities. Part of the Web of Science.

Bibliography of the History of Art [CD Network]
Index to the history of post-classical Western art including: fine arts; decorative and applied arts; industrial design and architecture; popular and folk art; and material culture.

Expanded Academic Index [UW only]
General index to magazine and journal articles in all subjects, includes some full-text.

Historical Abstracts [UW only]
Major index to articles in world history from the period 1450 on.

History of Science and Technology [UW only]
Index to articles and books in the history of science and medicine.

Iter gateway to the Middle Ages and Renaissance [UW only]

Microfilm Sets
These collections of primary sources are housed in the Microforms and Newspapers Collection on the first floor of Suzzallo. Printed guides are also located there under the microfilm number if available.

Bibliothek der deutschen Literatur - M-3108
Guide available in Microforms Newspapers under the M-3108 call number. Includes 15,000 German works by 2,500 authors published between 1650 and 1900.

Early English Books, 1475-1640 and Early English Books, 1641-1700 - A9600 and A2791
Access provided through the UW Libraries Catalog and the English Short Title Catalogue. Covers all books printed in any language in England or its dependencies from the beginning of printing through the end of the seventeenth century, as well as works printed in English anywhere else in the world during that period.

Eighteenth Century - A7173
Access provided through the UW Libraries Catalog and the English Short Title Catalogue. Ongoing attempt to microfilm all materials printed in any language between 1701 and 1800 in Great Britain and its then colonies in North America, the Caribbean, and India, or printed in English elsewhere in the world.

German Baroque Literature, Jantz Collection - A7492
Access provided through the UW Libraries Catalog plus printed guide in Suzzallo Reference Z7040 G47. The main body of 3169 clearly Baroque (1615-1745) works is supplemented by 317 from the Renaissance and 144 later works. Along with works of primarily literary importance, there is a large representation of prose works of a scientific, political, religious, and ethnographic nature. (611 reels)

German Baroque Literature, Yale Collection - A5271
Access provided through the UW Libraries Catalog plus printed guide in Suzzallo Reference Z2231.Y3. Reproduces 2263 titles in 3087 volumes. The German Baroque era here is assigned the dates 1575-1740. (656 reels)
