- To find out what we have in the way of books or journals dealing
with Italian language and literature, search the UW Libraries
catalog.
- If you know the general subject on which you need material, select
Keywords and type in a word or two describing that topic. For
example you might type italian cinema to see what books we have
on that subject.
- If you then select one of the results from that search, you'll see
further down the screen a heading LC SUBJECTS which in this case
is Motion pictures -- Italy. Select that heading to see even more
on the subject.
- If you want material in Italian, select Keywords and enter
your search terms in Italian. For example Calvino and realismo will
give you a list of books in Italian dealing with themes of realism in the work of Italo Calvino.
- If you know the exact title, or exact author of a book, simply
select Title or Author. Please note that the correct way
to enter an author's name is surname, first name; for example Eco, Umberto. If you only want copies of Eco's books in Italian, enter his
name in the Author search as before, then select Limit/Sort towards the
top right hand corner of the screen then select Italian from the
drop-down list in the LANGUAGE field.
- If you wish to find a specific journal, click on the journals icon
in the UW Libraries
catalog. The screen will turn blue to show that you are searching
the catalogue only for journals. Then select Title and enter the
title as before.
