Summit Catalog
This catalog includes over 22 million books, sound recordings, films, maps and more from 32 colleges, universities, and community colleges throughout Oregon & Washington. You can request many materials through Summit if it's not available at the UW. Request a book and it will arrive in 2-3 days. Pick it up at your favorite UW Library location.

A subject searchable Index of the Johns Hopkins University Press Journals online with Project Muse. Retrieves more than 5000 full text articles.

Full text articles from newspapers and periodicals published by the ethnic and minority press in America

Expanded Academic ASAP - UW restricted
Contains abstracts and full-text articles for approximately 1,500 scholarly journals and popular magazines. Coverage includes 1980 to the present on all areas of study, including literature and history.

ProQuest Research Library - UW restricted
Contains abstracts and full text articles for a large collection of scholarly journals and popular magazines. Like Expanded Academic Index, this database covers all areas of study, but also inlcudes newspapers. Coverage begins from 1986 to present.

Citations to film reviews published in popular magazines and film industry trade newspapers during the years 1882-1985. Organized alphabetically by film title.

Provides videos, dvd's, and cd's concerning military,political,and social history of the 20th Century.

 

Useful Reference Resources

South and Southeast Asia Video Archive: Selected Reading A guide to recent books and articles published about video, television, and cinema in South Asia and Southeast Asia. These are found in the University of Wisconsin-Madison general library system. Search the UW Libraries Catalog to see if these items are available in the UW Libraries.

The Oxford Guide to Film Studies edited by John Hill and Pamela Church Gibson. 1998. Published by Oxford University Press. This is a companion book to The Oxford History of World Cinema. The work emphasizes film theory and criticism over industrial and artistic issues.

The Oxford History of World Cinema edited by Geoffrey Nowell-Smith, Oxford University Press, 1996. Reference book offers articles on the industrial and artistic history of cinema from the 1890s to the present. Features articles on international cinematic traditions. Contains bibliographies at the end of each article, and at the back of the volume. Indexed.

A Critical Cinema: interviews with independent filmmakers Includes bibliographical references and index.

Eye on the World: conversations with international filmmakers Includes filmographies.

International Dictionary of Films and Filmmakers The four volume series includes: v.1 Films, v.2 Directors, v.3 Actors and Actresses and v.4 Writers and Production Artists. Each entry includes production information, cast and crew lists, a select bibliography of works about each film and an essay by a specialist in the field. A geographic index allows you to locate films by their country or countries of origin.
