FINDING BOOKS, GOVERNMENT REPORTS AND JOURNAL TITLES
OCLC World Catalog This catalog reflects the holdings of a huge number of libraries throughout the U.S. and beyond, useful for identifying locally available items as well as items that can be acquired through interlibrary loan.
FINDING SCHOLARLY JOURNAL ARTICLES
http://www.googlescholar.com is a good starting point to search scholarly articles
Use research databases to find articles on a topic. Since most databases cover a specific subject area, choose those that best fit your research topic. For a complete list of databases see Research Databases on the UW libraries home page.. For subject specific databases please go to http://www.lib.washington.edu/subject/
and click on the relevant subject page such as South Asia for South Asia specific databases.
To find a copy of the article, use the Check for UW Holdings button available on most databases to locate a copy in the library. If there is no button, search the UW Libraries Catalog for the title of the journal to locate a copy. Be sure to have the complete citation (author, title, journal name, volume, pages and year) of your article.
Articles from journals which the UW does not own can be requested via Interlibrary loan.
