2,400 years of malacology This paper provides a comprehensive catalog of biographical and bibliographical publications for over 10,000 malacologists, conchologists, paleontologists, and others with an interest in mollusks, from Aristotle to the present. For each person, the birth/death years and nationality are given (when known), followed by bibliographic citations to the literature about that person and his/her collections and publications. Appendices provide citations to (1) publications on oceanographic expeditions and other natural history expeditions that resulted in the collection and description of mollusks; (2) histories of malacological institutions and organizations; and (3) histories and dates of publication of malacological journals, and journals frequently cited in malacological publications, such as those of the Zoological Society of London. A separate Annex provides collations for several molluscan works |

Herpfaun a bibliography concerning the geographical distribution of reptiles and amphibians / This is a taxon- and faunal unit-oriented bibliography of (mostly) pre-1993 publications concerning the geographical distribution of reptiles and amphibians. It includes faunal monographs, checklists, determination keys, taxonomic revisions, bibliographies, conservation status reports, field guides, etc.--any kind of publication that provides information relevant to the study of area-specific faunas. Its emphasis is on areal units rather than taxa; nevertheless, close to half of the references listed are order, family, genus or species-specific, with a geographical systematics or conservation slant. Recent literature (again, through 1992) is more heavily represented than earlier works, but some "classic" studies have been included as deemed relevant to purpose. Coverage is both geographically and linguistically worldwide (works in about 30 languages are included) |

Ornithological worldwide literature OWL OWL is a compilation of citations and abstracts from the worldwide scientific literature that pertain to the science of ornithology. A major attraction is its coverage of the "grey" literature, which are not abstracted by commercial databases such as Zoological record or the Science citation index. OWL deals chiefly with serial publications such as periodicals but also announces new and renamed journals and provides abstracts of other serial publications, conference proceedings, reports, and doctoral dissertations. Papers dealing exclusively with domestic and pet birds and their husbandry are excluded unless they are applicable to non-domestic birds |
