Finding UW History Dissertations
The UW Libraries has copies of dissertations and masters theses written by University of Washington students. To locate these dissertations search the UW Libraries Catalog in the following ways:
- By author
- By title
- By genre & department - use the heading "theses" followed by the department:
- theses history
- theses medical history and ethics
- theses russian east european and central asian studies
- By topic - use the keywords search and combine the phrase "theses and" followed by a topical keyword(s):
- theses and mexican americans and northwest
- theses and zhou dynasty
- Browsing dissertations - history dissertations are shelved under the call number D7 on the second floor of Suzzallo Library

Finding Dissertations Elsewhere
To identify dissertations written at other universities use one of the following databases. Once you have identified those dissertations you need, submit an interlibrary loan request to get a copy if it is not available online. You can also buy copies via Proquest Digital Dissertations.
