Jewish Studies library resources support instruction and research related to the history and culture of the Jewish people and their influence on world civilization. These courses are offered through the Jewish Studies Program , one of two topical programs (the other being Comparative Religion) in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies . Courses leading to a Jewish Studies major are available in history, comparative religion, sociology, and political science. Hebrew language study is offered through the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization .
The Jewish Studies library fund was created to acquire materials in Judaism, rabbinics, Hebrew language and literature, and other items deemed so interdisciplinary as not to be covered by one of the Libraries' regular subject funds. Faculty and student resource needs are met both through cooperation and referral among selectors working with the Jewish Studies selector and through the selector's working independently in the above areas. The fund is no less interdisciplinary than is the program it supports.
