What does a Children's and Young Adult Literature specialist do?

I support the research and teaching needs of UW faculty, students, and of teachers, librarians, and other researchers throughout Washington state. This includes buying books, maintaining subject web pages, providing research assistance, and teaching research methods. Although I don't act as liaison to a specific academic department, I have worked with researchers in a broad range of disciplines including library and information science, education, languages and literatures, the history of childhood, art, and sociology.

What else do I do?
My other job responsibilities include coordinating reference services at the Odegaard Undergraduate Library; selecting materials for the undergraduate reference collection and the career collection; and partnering with subject librarians to provide research instruction to undergraduate students in a variety of disciplines.

I also help support Tim Jewell, Sociology Librarian, by providing consultations and instructional support to undergraduate and graduate students researching sociological topics.
