Judy TsouHead, Music Library Email: jstsou@u.washington.edu Judy Tsou is the head of the Music Library. She is responsible for purchasing books and music scores, provides reference help to faculty, students, and other patrons, and the overall management of the Music Library. She is the principal liaison to the music faculty and she is a member of the music history faculty at the School of Music. Her research area is the intertwining aspects of gender and race in music. Her specialties include 19th to early 20th century American popular music, and music archives and manuscripts. She is editor of Cecilia Reclaimed: Feminist Perspectives on Gender and Music (1994; winner of CHOICE Outstanding Academic Book and Susan Koppelman feminist editing awards); author of "Gendering Race: Stereotypes of Chinese Americans in Popular Sheet Music" (repercussions vol. 6 no. 2), and of numerous book reviews. She is a member of the editorial board of Journal of American Musicological Society and Women in Music: A Journal of Gender and Culture. She has presented numerous papers and talks at the Music Library Association, International Association of Music Libraries, American Musicological Society, International Musicological Society, and the Society for American Music. |
