As Geography Librarian, Anne purchases materials for the Libraries' collection
to support the teaching and research conducted by members of the Geography
Department. She also provides research assistance to students and faculty with geography projects
large or small.
Anne also serves as Head of the Map Collection & Cartographic Information Services at the University of Washington Libraries, managing the staff and operations of the unit, acquiring geospatial data for the Libraries' collection, and supervising maintenance of the Washington State Geospatial Data Archive (WAGDA), a web-based file server that provides selected geospatial data layers to UW students, faculty, and staff.
Anne makes regular visits to classes to provide instruction on geography research methods and resources, on the resources and strategies for locating digital geospatial data, or to provide orientations to the Map Collection. Anne has taught several credit courses on research strategies including Geography 492: Library Research in Geography and Informatics 220: Information Problem Solving in Geography. She is also a Lecturer in the Information School and for several years has taught LIS529 Information Access in the Social Sciences.
Since 1999 Anne has served as a faculty member for the Immersion Program, a 4.5 day professional development experience sponsored by the Association of College and Research Libraries/Institute for Information Literacy.
