Dorlesca and William Peterson Endowed Library Fund

The purpose of the Endowment is for acquisition of materials for the Pacific Northwest Collection in Special Collections. Acquisitions may include books, microforms, sets of collected works, facsimiles of manuscripts, and all other information formats.

Dorlesca Hazel Ryan, a UW graduate, has been a longtime supporter of the Libraries. She helped to establish the Friends of the UW Libraries, serving as a director on its board from 1991 to 1996. Ms. Ryan created this endowment in honor of her parents, Dorlesca and William Peterson, who were Pacific Northwest pioneers.

About endowments
An endowment is a permanent fund of support for which the principal of the gift is invested and grows over time. The endowment makes distributions on a quarterly basis to support the purpose specified. The endowed fund can be named to honor a special person or specific area of need for the Libraries.

Endowments are forever
With the creation of an endowment, you have the chance to build a strong foundation for the University Libraries, now and in the future. Endowment gifts are extremely valuable in enhancing the quality of the University Libraries, since they provide a constant resource regardless of state funding.
