Electronic Reserves/ERes Has Migrated to Canvas!

As of June 30, 2015, UW Libraries has decommissioned the outdated ERes software used for hosting course E-Reserves.

After careful consideration (including data from a pilot project), the UW Libraries determined that Canvas is a viable alternative to ERes and therefore did not renew its e-reserves contract for ERes, the Libraries electronic reserves software. The current contract expired on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Access to the ERes system and course reserve pages and documents are no longer available.

Providing course readings through Canvas will create a more seamless experience for students, integrating readings into the course itself instead of providing them in a separate system. The UW Libraries ERes system was originally purchased to provide access to online content for course materials at a time when little or no access to learning management systems existed. Although ERes has served the UW Libraries for well over a decade, Canvas is now the preferred platform for hosting course materials.  Canvas enhances teaching and learning beyond the physical classroom by providing a single point of access to course materials and offers robust features not available through the ERes system.

Faculty not currently using Canvas should become familiar with the software.  Training and assistance with Canvas is available.  To register for an instructional workshop visit: http://www.washington.edu/itconnect/learn/tools/canvas/.  Help is available at help at uw.edu, (206) 221-5000, and in Odegaard Undergraduate Library Room 230.
