INFO Salmon collection
"The Salmon collection contains documents, photographs and other original material describing the roots of the salmon crisis in the Pacific Northwest in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Material specific to this collection is comprised of text drawn from the pamphlet and book collections housed in the UW Libraries, Manuscripts, Special Collections, University Archives Division. Additional relevant material is taken from existing digital collections which include the Tollman and Canaris Photographs, John N. Cobb Photographs, Industries and Occupations Photographs, American Indians of the Pacific Northwest, and the Freshwater and Marine Images."

Willis Sayre collection consists of more than 24,000 photographs of theatrical and vaudeville performers, as well as musicians and motion picture scenes, that played in Seattle between about 1900 and 1955 (some of the materials date back to the 1870s). This database includes the data for all images in the database, but only includes links to digital images that are not under copyright restrictions

An ongoing collection of historical images from the western United States and the Pacific Northwest, with particular emphasis on Washington State, that focuses on political and social topics such as women's issues; labor and government; prohibition; legislative assemblies; socialist colonies in Washington State; leisure activities such as camping, hiking and mountaineering; and ethnic groups, especially Japanese and Chinese Americans, and the World War II Japanese internment centers of Camp Harmony (Puyallup, Washington) and Minidoka (Hunt, Idaho)
INFO souvenir of the Harriman Alaska Expedition May-August 1899
The collection consists of a two-volume album entitled "A Souvenir of the Harriman Alaska Expedition," containing 253 photographic prints and 1 map. Also included in the collection is a duplicate copy of the album photographs housed loose in two boxes and including an additional print missing from Volume I. Views depict landscapes, geographic features, towns, native Alaskans, and expedition members. Many settlements are identified. Photographs were taken by Edward S. Curtis, Edward Henry Harriman, Clinton Hart Merriam, Grove Karl Gilbert, Leon J. Cole, W.B. Devereux, Wesley R. Coe, William H. Averell, and Robert Ridgway
INFO Spanish-American War in Motion Pictures
Summary: Motion pictures of the Spanish-American War and the subsequent Philippine Revolution produced between 1898 and 1901 are featured in this presentation, released to coincide with the centennial of the sinking of the battleship U.S.S. Maine. The complete collection will include 68 motion pictures and a selection of sound recordings related to the war; 53 motion pictures are included in this first release.
INFO Spanish-American War in Motion Pictures
Motion pictures of the Spanish-American War and the subsequent Philippine Revolution produced between 1898 and 1901 are featured in this presentation. Actualities and reenactments in Cuba, the Philippines and the United States include scenes of troops, ships, notable figures, parades and other war-time events. (CIT): Dr. Jane Sayer, an NIH research scientist in NIDDK, has established the Sayer Vision Research Lecture and Award at the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH), in partnership with the National Eye Institute (NEI) at NIH, to honor her family and the memory of her parents, Winthrop and Laura Sayer. The lecture and award series will provide an opportunity for honorees to explore areas of interdisciplinary collaboration, such as angiogenesis, that may lead to advances in diverse medical specialties with relevance to vision research. A number of factors place vision science in a position for major advances in the near future including the large number of identified genes relevant to eye disease and the relative ease with which pathology can be visualized and documented in the eye

Collection consists of 1212 photographic prints, as well as 85 glass negatives, of the marine shipping industry on Puget Sound in Washington State, including ships, their crews, and the loading of lumber onto vessels. INFO William E. Meed collection, ca. 1898-1953 (bulk, ca. 1898-1907)
The collection consists of one journal, 42 clippings, and 327 vintage photographic prints depicting activities and scenes related to the Klondike Gold Rush in the vicinity of Dawson, Yukon Territory, Canada, ca. 1898-1953 (with the bulk of the materials dating from ca. 1898 to 1907). About 110 of the photographs were taken by Meed, and many are by well-known photographers such as Eric A. Hegg, H.C. Barley, H.J. Goetzman, George G. Cantwell, and the firm of Kinsey & Kinsey (Clark Kinsey and Clarence Kinsey). Meed's snapshots show his wife and family, friends, and fellow workers, as well as Dawson dwellings, docks and freighting activities, dogsled outings, and wilderness roadhouses. The commercially photographed items document Klondike mines and mining activities, Dawson street scenes, views along the Chilkoot Trail and the White Pass & Yukon Route railroad, steamboats and steamboat landings, and other Klondike scenes

INFO Yukon photographers gold rush era (1897-1900) = La ruee vers l'or vue par les photographes du Yukon (1897-1900)
Photographers have been visiting the Yukon since U.S. Army Lieutenant Schwatka travelled down the Yukon River in 1883. After the discovery of gold on Bonanza Creek in 1896, many commercial photographers travelled to Dawson City, photographing the journey and establishing studios along the way. Many of the stampeders also had small roll-film cameras as part of their outfits. The photographers featured here were in the Yukon just before or during the gold rush and are only some of those that photographed the Klondike gold rush
