Undergrad | History Grad | Forest Resources
You are going to play the role of researcher in your field…it shouldn’t be too much of a stretch to play yourself. Below is a series of four tasks that ask you to find resources that you might use for different research scenarios. Choose three of the four tasks; for your fourth task create a scenario based on your own area of interest in history. Look for the information requested for each task and write the answer in the space provided. During each task make sure to “think aloud.”
- You are researching the role of 8th and 9th century Irish monasticism in developing literary culture in Europe. Find two resources pertinent to your research in Irish monks’ work with illuminated manuscripts. Write the title of the resources and where you found them below. Finally, rate how well you feel your resources fit your research objective (1-10, with 10 being the best).
- You are researching the life and culture of Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest. Specifically you want to find information on the impact of European fur traders on tribes in the area. Find two resources on the tribes of the Pacific Northwest and how the influx of European traders changed their way of life. Write the title of the resources and where you found them below. Finally, rate how well you feel your resources fit your research objective (1-10, with 10 being the best).
