UWill provides faculty with online instruction for their students related to finding and evaluating information for course assignments. As part of a systematic program, instructors and librarians can employ these online tutorials addressing a range of concepts related to information-seeking (including traditional library research). Other programmatic components may include: library workshops, reference consultations, and in-class activities that help students develop information mastery and track their progress in acquiring command of these abilities.
UWill tutorials are meant to be employed as components of research assignments,
bringing this process closer to the center of the course syllabus. The learning
objectives of the tutorials should be emphasized as a critical component of
the course syllabus and the disciplinary curriculum, so that students understand
the purpose and value of studying information retrieval and use. Since this
process will be repeated throughout the lifespan, the abilities gained throughout
the program define and empower lifelong self-directed learning.
