Asking Questions

Research Scope

You will need to focus your research question on a topic that is appropriate for the length of your assignment and the amount of time you have to complete it. Here are some tips:

Broadening. If you're not finding enough information, you may be asking a question that is too specific or narrow. Try backing off and taking a broader perspective.

Instead of:

Gap, Inc. and globalization

Try:

clothing industry and globalization

Narrowing. If you are finding too much information, try narrowing your focus.

Instead of:

"How has Mitsubishi expanded globally?"

Try:

"What types of mergers and acquisitions has Mitsubishi been involved in?"
