Russian, East European, & Central Asian Studies research

Description:
The interdisciplinary study of the social, political, and economic conditions of the regions of Eurasia in light of their coexistence within a geographic continuum and their shared legacy of domination by institutions of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, or most recently the Russian Federation. REECAS tempers new and established social science theory with historical and cultural perspectives to achieve a balanced view of the region's societies and economies, past and present.

New knowledge creation in REECAS begins on a foundation of received, generally accepted knowledge (such as that found from "report research" and beyond in the REECAS Information Flow model). The researcher either collects original data or reevaluates existing data from this sector in order to discover new knowledge, confirm, modify or refute previous assumptions and theories, and propose new conclusions.
