Hours:

12-19.5  hours per week, Hours to fall within Monday- Friday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Duties:

    Under the supervision of the Library Account Services Supervisor:

    • is responsible for interpreting the UW Libraries Loan Code, library policy, and University collection procedures.
    • Advises current and prospective library users of borrowing privilege eligibility and appropriate fees.
    • Notifies library users of fines, book replacement charges, and fees, and informs library users of possible library sanctions.
    • Recommends appropriate course of action for library users with past due accounts.

    Duties:

    • Accepts and processes cash, check, and credit card payments from library users (in person, over the phone, online, or through the mail) for library fines and book replacement charges.
    • Issues and renews borrower's cards for library users.
    • Handles routine questions regarding library fine policies, user account balances, and borrower's eligibility, both in person and by telephone.
    • Issues locker keys, Suzzallo study carrels, and Allen graduate room study space.
    • Creates a variety of form notices using mail merge functions and Microsoft Access.
    • Processes accounts determined to be uncollectable.
    • Files active and paid invoices, borrower's card applications, and correspondence.
    • Performs other duties as required.

      Required Qualifications:

       

      • Cashiering/clerical experience
      • Comfort with computers
      • Excellent customer service skills
      • High level of attention to detail
      • Strong commitment to serving a diverse group of library users
      • Ability to communicate clearly with library users and coworkers
      Desired Qualifications:

      Previous experience providing customer service in a job or volunteer position

       

      Other Job Details:

      Due to the amount of training required for the position, a commitment to work at least two quarters is required.
