15 hours per week

Hours between 9:00 am-5:00 pm Monday-Friday


  • Search complex printed and online bibliographic tools in support of adding materials to Special Collections
  • Arrange and describe archival collections according to Describing Archives: A Content Standard, and other standards in consultation with the Curator
  • Prepare inventories and finding aids of archival collections using a variety of software, including XMetal (EAD), Archivista Toolkit, Google Drive and Microsoft Excel
  • May research, write, edit and/or revise electronic documents including patron correspondence
  • Re-house materials as necessary
  • Retrieve and re-shelve record storage boxes
  • Perform research using primary and secondary sources on the historical context of the collection
  • Other duties as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Eagerness to learn new software and data management systems
  • Competent in MS Excel
  • Excellent handwriting, organizational and communication skills
  • Professional attitude, strong attention to detail and ability to stay self-motivated and complete all tasks assigned in a timely manner
  • Two references
Desired Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a Master's program
  • Experience working with museum, library, or historical collections or equivalent

Other job details:

  • Training provided in accessioning, processing, describing, and other work with collections and software.
