5-10 hours per week; scheduled is flexible

Duties:

    The Vietnam Studies Group web assistant helps to manage the discussion list and web site of the Vietnam Studies Group, a professional organization representing scholars belonging to the Association for Asian Studies.

    Initially the Student Specialist will work under the supervision of Libraries IT staff to move existing web files to a new server. After this is completed, regular work includes:

    • Respond to requests and inquiries relating to the VSG Discussion List, hosted on the UW's mailman platform;
    • Edit and maintain the International Viet Nam Scholars' Director using the InMagic database;
    • Under supervision of List Manager, collect, evaluate and archive selected discussion threads for permanent inclusion on Vietnam Studies website;
    • Update website as instructed.

      Required Qualifications:

      • Typing proficiency and accuracy
      • Basic computer literacy
      • Comfort with basic web structures and computer file organization
      • Interest in Viet Nam
      Desired Qualifications:
      • Vietnamese language proficiency
      Other Details: We are looking for a computer literate student to help out with the Vietnam Studies Group (of the Association for Asian Studies) web site and discussion list.
