10-19 hours per week; shifts include weekdays and weekends, morning, afternoon, and evening


  • Shelves and shifts materials; reads shelves; searches for missing volumes; and retrieves library materials.
  • Performs basic circulation processing tasks.
  • Does routine filing in alphabetical or numerical files.
  • Assists in routine marking and processing of library materials.
  • Photocopies library materials for users and staff.
  • Uses standard computer applications for routine/repetitive keyboarding and data entry.
  • Gives general directions and information on library procedures and policies to users.
  • Keeps routine statistical records.
  • Receives, unpacks, sorts and delivers mail, gifts and other material.
  • Does basic bibliographic checking, online or manually.
  • Performs routine processing of books for lending, borrowing, photocopying, reserve, etc.
  • Assists in opening and closing procedures of library units.
  • Provides basic maintenance of and/or assistance with library equipment, such as public workstations, printers, AV equipment, photocopiers, etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Detail oriented and accurate in performing daily routine tasks
  • Punctual and work regularly scheduled shifts for entire term, including during finals week
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds and push heavy book trucks

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous library experience
  • Strong public service skills
  • Available to work at least two consecutive quarters
