UW Libraries COVID-19 Updates

UW Bothell and UW Tacoma Libraries may have different reopening plans based on individual campus readiness.
Check campus library websites for the most accurate information.

Operations and Services: Updated 9/22/21

  • What’s open and when: With the exception of Odegaard Library, most libraries will be operating in a limited capacity (M-F) to start. Hours will expand (including evenings and weekends) as sufficient staff are hiredAlways check the individual Library hours to confirm before visiting.
      • Odegaard Undergraduate Library: valid Husky Card required for entry
        • Fall early start hours: 9am-5pm M-F
        • Weekend and later evening hours start 9/29
        • All remaining Seattle campus libraries and Special Collections: OPEN on WEDNESDAY, 9/29
            • Art, Built Environments, Drama, Math and Music: 1pm-5pm, M-F
      • Libraries are not designated eating locations at this time. Per UW Environmental Health and Safety, please follow new guidelines for eating in designated spaces on campus. See designated/open locations for eating indoors at https://hfs.uw.edu/Eat
      • Appointments now required for most services: While information desks will be open with staff,  most services inside the libraries including visiting Special Collections, media and digital scholarship services will require an appointment.
      • Special Collections will offer virtual reading room starting 9/29!
      • Group visits and tours: No group visits, tours or orientations including K-12 visitors through fall quarter (January 1, 2022.)
      • Due dates and Fines will stop being extended when Libraries open, so make sure to renew items in your online library account, or return overdue items that cannot be renewed (recalled items, Summit, Interlibrary Loan, and equipment).
    • Graduating students retain off-campus access to online library collections and databases using Husky OnNet or the off-campus proxy until the second consecutive quarter (excluding Summer) in which you are not enrolled.
