New Staff, Jian Ping Lee

Introducing new staff

Ms. Jian Ping Lee has joined the East Asia Library at the University of Washington Libraries as Chinese Cataloging and Metadata Librarian as of February 1st, 2019. She will be responsible for cataloging Chinese language materials in all formats including electronic resources and creating metadata.

Prior to coming to the University of Washington, Jian served as a Chinese cataloger at the Ohio State University Libraries for six years and became the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cataloging coordinator in 2017. Jian is native of Guangdong Province in China. She moved to Columbus, Ohio with her family in the mid-1990s. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese. With her solid cataloging experience and strong language skills, Jian will make a very valuable addition to our East Asia Library team.

Jian received her BA in East Asian Studies from Denison University and MLS from Kent State University in 2011. She is an active member of the Council on East Asian Libraries, the Association for Asian Studies, and Academic Library Association of Ohio. When she’s not working, she enjoys watching movies, reading, and cooking. She is looking forward to day hikes in the Seattle area.
