EAL Celebrated Six Major Anniversaries and Said Goodbye Three Librarians

In year 2011-2012, EAL had six staff members celebrating their anniversaries.   Yanyan Sun, Peggy Lin, and Ritsuko Kurima came to the UW Libraries within three months of each other 15 years ago;  Hyokyoung Yi celebrated her 10th, Richard Carkeek 25th, and Zhijia Shen 5th anniversaries.   EAL also said goodbye to three veteran librarians for their retirement and job changes—Michael Meng resigned from his position as Chinese Studies Librarian on September 30, 2011 to become the Curator of Asian Collections at Rice University. Keiko Yokota-Cater resigned as Japanese Studies Librarian on August 16, 2012 to assume the position of Japanese Studies Librarian at University of Michigan.  Ju-Yen Teng retired as Chinese Cataloger as of June 30, 2012, after about 40 years at the University.  Search committee have been formed for the three positions and we look forward to bringing new librarians on board in 2013.
