Access to other Libraries for UW Faculty

Getting Borrowing Privileges from Orbis-Cascade Alliance Libraries in Washington and Oregon

Orbis Cascade Alliance libraries include many academic and some community college libraries in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.  To get borrowing privileges you will be asked to present your current UW ID and login to your UW library account to verify your status.  Once you are registered at the library, you can check out books from that library and request that books from other Summit libraries be sent there for your use.

Getting Borrowing Privileges at Other Universities

If the university you are interested in is listed, please read the following for more information:

  • A current or retired faculty member from UW may request a Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program card from Library Account Services, located on the first floor of Suzzallo Library.  The visiting faculty member must then present the card and any other identification required at the main campus of any participating institution in order to borrow materials.
  • Privileges vary from institution to institution. Materials may be used on the premises of the owning library or may be borrowed, depending on the policy of the lending library.
  • The home institution determines who is eligible for a Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program card. The lending library determines whether the card will be accepted for on-site use and/or borrowing.  Local policies must be followed at the lending library.
