About

Dissertation Boot Camp at the University of Washington Libraries Research Commons is a day-long, conference-style event, featuring talks and breakout sessions tailored to the needs of dissertation writers. Through sessions on topics such as citation management, finding graduate funding, submitting your dissertation electronically, open access publishing, dealing with writers block, and more, UW dissertation writers will:

  1. Acquire a set of skills, tools, and contacts that will foster success in dissertation writing.
  2. Gain structure and motivation from peers and advisors to help overcome typical roadblocks in the dissertation process.
  3. Discover the role of UW Libraries, the UW Graduate School, and the Odegaard Writing and Research Center as sources of support for dissertation writing.
