Workshops and general instruction on how to conduct research and how to use the collections.

Special Collections provides tailored workshops on strategies and resources to introduce students to research in a wide variety of subject specialties and disciplines. Curators and subject specialists from across the Libraries offer general instruction on how to use the collections; on specific themes, formats, authors and historical periods; and in research methods. Workshops and class presentations are often a good method to introduce students, especially undergraduates, to the resources of Special Collections and the UW Libraries.

Staff in Special Collections also mentor students, arrange for directed fieldwork experiences or independent study opportunities and work with individual students in a variety of ways to enhance their education experience. Contact Special Collections to discuss this possibility.
